2 to the 8!
It's official...I am married to an old man. Eric turned 28 yesterday!
Although, we had fun celebrating Eric's big day, his birthday week didn't have the greatest of starts. It all began last Saturday with this:
A seemingly innocent pipe sticking out of the ground in St. George, Utah.
That darn pipe would later eat Eric's cell phone. We ultimately determined that the pipe actually digested the phone because after an hour or so of digging in the red dirt, we walked away empty-handed.
Well, April 10th, B-DAY, came and cell phone-less Eric went to the hospital prepared to stay overnight. The boys and I tried to stay busy birthday shopping, McDonald's playgrounding, and dining with another husbandless friend. I made no effort at all to make a birthday cake, wrap Eric's present, or do anything special since we wouldn't really be celebrating until the next day.
While enjoying a yummy dinner, I was shocked to get a phone call from Eric (who used a neighbor's phone) informing me that he was home! What a let down it must have been for him to walk into our dark apartment find his unwrapped birthday present lying on the kitchen table and no family there to greet him with birthday wishes! The resident he had been working with found out it was his birthday and told him to GO HOME! We were shocked and thrilled, and began a mad rush home to meet him!
This birthday that we had thought would be horrible was suddenly getting better and better! Not only was Eric home, but the UPS man was kind enough to deliver his new phone. We rented a movie, put the boys to bed, and enjoyed a surprisingly fun night!
We continued the celebrating today with Eric's traditional birthday dinner: ribs, mashed potatoes, and cheesecake.
Here's to a birthday that turned out WAY better than planned!! Happy 28!

"Spring" Break.
Actually, the weather in Utah was so horrendous it felt more like Christmas break, but we had fun nonetheless!
Some highlights:

* Spending the only warm day in SLC at Temple Square. Definitely one of my favorite spots.
* Max's blessing day.

* And meeting new ones.

* Watching Sam experience pure joy while riding Trax and a four-wheeler.

* Enjoying some much needed warmth in St. George.

* Getting reacquainted with cousins.

* Family, family, family!

The worst part about going home is having to say goodbye. In fact, Sam cried himself to sleep tonight asking to see his Gram. He kept looking out his bedroom window asking where she was. It's moments like that that make Ohio seem so far away!
