Fall Colors

Besides the colorful beauty of the trees this fall, we've been seeing a plethora of color all over poor Max's face. Here's his most recent colorful bruise:

His sweet face met the corner of the wall just as we were walking out the door to church on Sunday morning. It's quite the bump. I've been getting looks and comments from strangers all week. Poor baby.

Anyway, the leaves did not disappoint this year...they were gorgeous! They are now past their peak and I hate to see all of the color come to an end! I'm glad we ventured out one last time on Sunday to get a few more pictures while the trees were still so beautiful!

I love Ohio!

Halloween is in the air...

and we're loving it!

Toledo is so fun right now! There are so many great traditions that we look forward to every year! We enjoyed our ward's trunk-or-treat last night...it's always a favorite! As you can see, the boys went as wild animals and Eric and I tried to control them by dressing like zookeepers...sadly we forgot to get a picture of all 4 of us. We'll have to fix that.

Anyway, we're looking forward to a busy, fun, spooky, and candy-overloaded week! We can't wait...

We struggle...

So, what do you think of our potential Christmas card pictures? Any keepers?

Note: Our photographer is not to blame. He was fantastic. We blame Sam and Max...well, mostly Max.

Boston, Mass.

Did you know that I am married to a HUGE sports fan? Okay, he's more of a fanatic really. College football is the sport demanding most of his attention these days, but deep down Eric's first and true love is all-American baseball. In fact, the little game of baseball was even involved in Eric's marriage proposal to me; he's that passionate about it.

So, when we decided to spend a day in Boston, taking a tour of Fenway Park was top on Eric's list. However, we had to cross off a few other 'must-sees' first while in Bean Town.

We spent our morning walking the city while we followed the Freedom Trail. We learned and re-learned many important facts about US History.

While following the red line, we even stumbled upon a crew shooting the latest Ben Affleck film. Apparently it has something to do with white sheets and masked nuns robbing a bank?! Can't say I'm dying to see this one.

We dilly-dallied all day, until Eric suddenly looked at his watch and realized we had 40 minutes to make it to Fenway for the LAST tour of the day. So, we threw the boys in the stroller, skipped out on walking up Bunker Hill, and ran. We looked like maniacs trying to buy tickets for the subway, check our map, carry a stroller, 2 kids, 2 backpacks, and of course a handful of sticks that Sam had collected at the USS Constitution on to the train.

But in the end, we made it.

We sat on top of the Green Monster, and Eric vowed that one day we'll sit in those same seats
during a real game. I told him to start saving his pennies.

We loved Fenway. We also loved the cobble-stone streets and history of this city. Actually, we loved everything about Boston. I told Eric that I want to go back, sans kids, and spend a few days seeing the sights and doing some serious shopping. He told me to start saving my pennies.
So, I am.

Tourists

I love being a tourist. You get to do all sorts of things that real life never gives you time to do. Is there anything better than being on vacation?

Here are a few favorite touristy experiences from The Cape.

Riding Bikes: We rode along the Cape Cod Rail Trail. It had been way too long since Eric or I had been on a bike. We were certain that our legs were going to fall off as we neared the end of our ride. Luckily, they didn't. The boys loved being towed along...especially when Eric would pull them because "he goes way faster than Mom."

Putt Putting: We mini-golfed pirate style in Yarmouth. I lost horribly to Eric, but at least I can still beat Sam.

Whale Watching: Sam is still in love with whales, so we knew that this was an outing we couldn't pass up. As we waited to board the boat, Sam was completely enthralled with the brochure he picked up about whales. He studied the pictures so carefully and talked about how excited he was to see the real thing. He kept his "whale map", as he called it, in his hands the entire time.

Eric and I were a little disappointed as he promptly fell asleep aboard the Dolphin Fleet VIII and wouldn't wake up for anything. I thought for sure he'd miss it all, but luckily he woke up just in time to see this:

It was amazing really.

And just fyi, Sam keeps his whale brochure handy in his backpack, so if any of you have questions about whales he'd be more than happy to help you out.

Lighthouse Hopping: Eric made sure we saw almost every lighthouse possible. They are beautiful, so of course I didn't mind. We always seemed to arrive just as the lighthouse tours were ending, so we never made it inside one of them, but Sam and Max had just as fun running around outside.

Beach Going: I love the ocean. I'm a true Morgan at heart. I would pick an ocean vacation over any other kind of trip anytime. There's just something about being at the beach. It doesn't get better than that.
