I don't heart February!

February is sneaky. Despite it only have 28 days, it is no doubt always the longest month of the year for us. We ALWAYS get sick, and this year has been worse than any other.

But on a positive note, February of 2009 helped me gain yet another HUGE appreciation for my mom. This hit me as I spent most of last week cleaning up vomit...you never realize all that moms do until you have to do it yourself!! This was the first time that Sam got a stomach bug, and he got it bad! Luckily, it's all behind us now (fingers crossed) and we can once again join you people on the outside world! We're so DANG excited to get out of the house again. Here are some pictures of our week trapped indoors....

We had tons of time for jammies and trains.
And lots of brotherly bonding. One thing that did make my week great, was getting a Valentine flower from each of my boys...
We can't wait for March!

The Pay Off

Back in November, we had a traumatic trip down the toy aisle at Wal-Mart (darn those Thomas and Friends, they can cause mothers so much grief!) Since then, Sam has been working hard to earn the money needed to purchase Salty, the train that caused so many tears and heartache 3 months ago.

He's done various jobs around the house, which have earned him anywhere from a nickel to a whole 'paper' dollar! He loves to vacuum (he must take after his mom!) and he is great at putting away the silverware.
He's also been making his bed (kind of) and putting away his clothes. You get the idea. Anyway, the day finally came that he had enough money saved to buy Salty! We all ventured to Wal-Mart only to find that Salty was MIA! I never liked Wal-Mart all that much anyway...so Target it was!! We quickly found Salty, but were shocked when Sam suddenly had no interest him whatsoever! After pulling nearly every train, truck, and tractor off of the shelves, Sam walked away as the proud owner of Max & Monty...twin dump trucks! Perfect.

Tired.

Today, I have this song stuck in my head:

Sleep!
No, you're never gonna get it.
Sleep!
Tell me what's that for?
Sleep!
No, you're never gonna get it.
There's a guy who's been awake since the 2nd world war!

These lyrics seem to be speaking DIRECTLY to me! Poor Max has had a cold and has been up the past 2 nights...almost ALL night long! He really hasn't slept more than an hour at a time. Ahhhh! I'm exhausted! It seems that sleep is something that is just out of my reach these days.

p.s. 10 points if you can name the group that sings this song! (hint- they're one of my all-time favorites)

Seriously?

Can my baby really be 3 months old?! Where has the time gone? Max now seems so BIG to me and I absolutely love this age. It's like Max is suddenly alive...smiling, laughing, playing, squirming. Everything about him is so much fun right now. In honor of this 3-month milestone...here are 3 tidbits about our Max:

1- He is JOLLY! There really isn't a better word to describe him. He LOVES to smile. He will smile at anyone...just look in his direction and he'll giggle.

2- He is adored (mauled) by Sam! I've loved watching Sam take on the role of Big Brother. While at times it can be slightly nerve-wracking to watch Sam nearly step on or smash his baby brother, he genuinely loves Max. Sam is constantly concerned about where Max is, and always wants to say "hi" to him. Tonight, while trying to get Sam to bed, he ran over to the crib where Max was laying and said, "Two more minutes, Momma! I need to say hi to Max again!" I really think these two are going to be buddies.

3- He has BLUE eyes!! This is still so amazing to me! I never thought I'd get a blue-eyed baby...especially being a Morgan! Blue eyes just don't seem to happen when you're a Morgan. I love his eyes! And I think it's very fitting that Max's middle name is Jensen...since all of the Jensens seem to have gorgeous light eyes.

Aren't I lucky?!

short but sweet

Eric's parents (aka Nai Nai and Yeh Yeh) made a quick trip to Toledo this past weekend. It was so fun to see them and have them meet Max-o Man for the first time! The weekend went by way too fast, but we loved being together! Many hours were spent setting up, taking apart, and reconfiguring train tracks. Sam LOVED playing trains with Yeh Yeh!

Sam loved being with his grandparents, and I loved that they were able to bond again! It's hard living so far away from family...so these visits mean SO much! Thank you for coming! We can't wait until we can see you again!!

p.s. Doesn't Eric look SO much like his Mom?!?
