Handsome!

Ok, so I'm going to be one of those mothers for just a minute! Humor me.

I just had to show off some of Sam's 18-month pictures that were just posted on Skye's Blog. We had these taken while we were in Utah. Skye is an amazing photographer, and I'm always shocked at the pics she manages to get from wiggly, hyper, uncooperative kids!

Oh, how I love my Sam!

Some favorites:

-BLUE SKIES!!! And yes, believe it or not this IS a picture of the sky in Toledo today. It was blue and beautiful! It finally felt like spring.

-SAM PLAYING OUTSIDE!!! It was so fun to watch Sam run outside today! He couldn't get enough of the slide or swings. It felt good to breathe in the fresh air...ahhhhhh!

-NEW DESSERT RECIPES!!! I don't claim to be much of a cook, but oh, do I love to bake! I was lucky enough to get a new cook book while in SLC and it is amazing! This brownie recipe is in it and it's to die for! You MUST try it!

Boyers' Caramel Brownies

1 (14 oz) package Kraft caramels, unwrapped
1/3 cup evaporated milk

*Melt caramels and evaporated milk together in saucepan; set aside.

1 package German chocolate cake mix
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 (6 oz) package milk chocolate chips

*Grease and flour 9x 13 inch pan. Stir cake mix, evaporated milk and melted butter together by hand and press HALF of the mixture into prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Remove from oven and pat chocolate chips into crust, then pour melted caramel over. Daub remaining half of cake mixture on top and bake for another 15 minutes. Cool completely before cutting into bars! ENJOY!

I'm baaa-aaaaack!

This poor blog...it has been so neglected over the past 3 weeks, but we're back in business starting tonight!

So, first of all Happy Easter!! Happy Spring! Happy Birthday Dad, Ally, Grandma, Makenna, etc, etc, etc!!! It has been a crazy, busy week since we've been back from Utah, but it is so good to be home. Sam and I had such a fun trip back to SLC. We played and played! We missed Eric terribly while he was in Honduras, but he had an excellent trip too! It sounds like he spent a majority of his trip cleaning out ear wax....sick....! Here are some pics...enjoy.

Spring Break Ohio Style...

It's finally Eric's spring break...a much needed vacation from class and stress to enjoy nice, sunny, warm weather. The idea of a spring break sounds wonderful; that is until you remember that you're in Toledo, it's only the first part of March, and you read a weather report like this online:

"Winter Storm Warning - Lucas County (Ohio)
TOLEDO...BOWLING GREEN...PORT CLINTON...
FINDLAY
342 AM EST SAT MAR 8 2008

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS
EVENING.

SNOW...HEAVY AT TIMES...WILL CONTINUE UNTIL EARLY THIS EVENING. BY
THE TIME THE SNOW TAPERS OFF...TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 10
INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE.

GUSTY NORTHERLY WINDS BETWEEN 20 AND 30 MPH WILL ALSO ACCOMPANY
THIS STORM. THIS WILL LEAD TO NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AND
SIGNIFICANT BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW.

A WINTER STORM WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN SEVERE WINTER WEATHER IS
EXPECTED. HEAVY SNOW ICE WILL CAUSE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS.
IF YOU WILL BE TRAVELING IN THE WARNING AREA YOU SHOULD CHOOSE AN
ALTERNATE ROUTE IF POSSIBLE... OR YOU SHOULD USE EXTREME CAUTION
IF TRAVEL IS UNAVOIDABLE."

Sounds lovely doesn't it??

Now, I like the snow (occasionally.) But come March, I am so ready for some sunshine! Is this winter weather ever going to let up?? Let's just say that I'm looking forward to basking in the 40 degree weather in good old SLC...that will feel like HEAVEN!

We still braved the cold and blowing snow this morning to go celebrate Eric's much needed break by getting breakfast at Panera. Yum! Can't let a little snowstorm slow ya down!

Future quarterback?

You'll have to excuse my ugly giggle during this entire video, but I just couldn't help it! Eric and I have no idea why this was cracking us up last night....it just was!! And fyi...'deppa' in Sam language means belly button!
