Tell me it isn't so!!!!

The past 3 days...count them, 1, 2, 3 days....Sam has not wanted to take a nap! I'll lay him in his bed, walk out of his room, and then listen to him babble to himself for an hour and a half. What on earth has happened to my amazing napping baby! I am terribly afraid that the Sam who used to nap for 3 hours every afternoon is gone. I'm scared that my precious time to take a shower and comb my hair uninterrupted is now extinct! Is my Sam now past his napping prime?? Tell me it isn't so!

I guess I should be thankful that he doesn't cry, scream, whine, fuss, or moan when I put him down for a nap, but he does NOT sleep! This has made the hours from 5-6 pm much more difficult as I am now dealing with an extremely grumpy 17 month old! What is a mom to do??

Sam? Precious, little, angel-faced Sam? Tell me you're lying.

I am so sorry. I know the feeling. Since Christmas Matthew has only been taking a 1 1/2 hour nap. But at least he is sleeping and not talking like Sam, which is amazing he just sits in his crib talking. Hopefully it is just a phase. That nap time is a much needed part of every mothers day.

Bummer! I can't really empathize with the napping thing yet, but I do get grumpy when I don't get a shower! That is the cutest picture of Sam :)

I know exactly how you feel!!! Even you stopped napping too soon! Just remember this when he is a teenager! I love the picture...that was a fun day! He is still perfect...even without napping! GRAM

Haha. I'd love to dress Sam! Since I have a job, I'd have no problem buying him an outfit or two...just don't tell Andrew! ;)

Ew sorry Lindsay, I hope it isn't so. 'Little' Josh was my non-napper. He stopped before he was 2 and never napped again ... until about 3 months ago! :P :) I think it just started catching up with him after 15+ years of nap-deprivation. Now he'll come home from high school and crash if he doesn't have to go to work. Maybe he's just storing up all he needs in the next few months before he heads off to BYU and a mission, and real sleep-deprivation! :)
p.s. I did still insist on 'quiet time' with Josh. We'd lay down and read (and I'd usually fall asleep!) :)

Kiersten goes through spurts of not sleeping during nap time but I still put her in her crib every day for a little quiet time. She is happy to play and I am excited to see her again after a little break. As long as he is happy, no harm done! When Kiersten doesn't nap, we just put her to bed a little earlier that night - since she is usually in bed by 7 that means 6 o'clock bedtime some nights but hey, she is happier than staying up grumpy! Good luck, I hope he starts sleeping again soon. He is so handsome, I can't believe how quickly he has grown.

I say keep trying. Both of my girls tried to give up their naps before 2, and again before 3, but if you keep trying, they start up again-- sometimes it takes a couple weeks. I think they definitely still need it, and it was worth the struggle for me.

Can he just have quiet Sam time?
Maybe he will start sleeping longer at night?

we deal with this battle often. just stick with it and he will get back into it. one thing we have that we love is a video monitor by Summer and it's AMAZING. you can see what they're up too and know if you really should get them or not. plus you still need your time too. :)
