We're experiencing post-vacation depression at our house this week.  Eric took all of last week off and it was so great!  Why can't he just vacation for a living?  I've got to figure out how to make that a possibility.

Anyway, we didn't do much at all during our week off, but being together with our new family of five was so wonderful.  Eric spent a majority of his time entertaining Sam and Max.  They hit up the zoo, a bouncy house place, the parks, and even did a service project with our church...leaving me with plenty of time for a nap every day.  Heavenly.

Eric even turned into Mr. Mom and thought to take a few photos of his adventures with Sam and Max during the week.  I was so proud.

We, of course, couldn't stay home all week.  Eric can't sit still for that long.  So, we ventured down south for a little day trip to French Lick, IN.  (I know, I know...what a lovely name for a town, right?)

French Lick is a beautiful little resort town with gorgeous golf courses, rolling hills, two amazing resorts, and bed & breakfasts galore.  We decided that we'll have to go back sometime and actually stay overnight to enjoy it all.  Eric will have to bring his golf clubs along, too.

We did have fun exploring a bit while we were there.  There is always a lot of stop and go when you have a newborn along for a car ride, but it was so great to get out of the house.  Sam and Max met up with a real cowboy and rode ponies.  We took a carriage around the resorts as a family.  And we drove over to Lake Patoka, where the boys fed nasty carp that were bigger than Max.

It was such a good day.

And I can't forget this little bug...

I feel like he's changing so fast.  He'll be a month old on Sunday, and I just don't know how that happened.

Jake is such a sweet little guy and loves to listen to his big brothers talk and play.  He's been getting fussy in the late afternoons and just wants to be rocked, swayed, bounced, and burped.  I'm not sure that I'll ever get anything done anymore...like my dinner dishes.  Oh well.  He does not like the binky; unless of course Eric gives it to him.  Which is great when Eric is home, but not at all helpful on those nights when he takes call.  We're doing well though.  Sam and Max have been so helpful and play endlessly together.  They've spent hours this week playing pirates.  I'm so happy they have each other!

Sam and I are certain that Jake gave a real smile earlier this week while Sam talked and sang to him.  I can't wait for those smiles to become more frequent.

The past couple of days Sam calls Jake Cutie Face.  I'm not sure where he came up with that, but I love it.  He whispers to Cutie Face in a high pitched little voice and sings him Rockabye Baby.

I am loving my life at home with my boys.  I really feel so blessed.  We are adjusting well and trying our best to enjoy things as they come.

He is SO precious! I love the pictures, as always. I think time just goes faster with each kid. Carter is 7 months today... 7 MONTHS!!! Are you kidding me! And I am so super jealous that Eric had the week off. How fun to have him home to help out!
