bits of July

Fourth of July one mile fun run!

Max got tripped at the starting line and skinned both of his knees.  He didn't do much running, but he most definitely deserved that medal.  He was tough.

And I sweat like a pig pushing Max and Jake in the stroller up hill.  I kind of wanted a medal, too.

 Fourth of July brothers.

Fireworks were a no-no in Indy this year.  Our major drought this summer has made for some really dead grass and some very non-traditional 4th of July celebrations.

We voted for the nice, dark and cool movie theater.  We took the boys to see Brave.  Jake only lasted through the previews before he lost interest and just wanted to crawl on the sticky floor and eat popcorn remnants.  It was a fun outing though!

We did get to do a few sparklers and poppers in the backyard with friends.

Jake's begun his yard care lessons this summer.  He loves to water the plants with Eric in the evenings.

We've been able to enjoy the Bloomington Dockters a couple of times this month which is always fun.

Some neighbors constructed a giant slip 'n slide and let us cool down with them.  It was awesome.  (See what I mean by dead grass??)

Max has maybe found his sport in slip 'n sliding.  He was good at it.  Like really good.  We think his little round belly may have helped him with his speed and distance.  He even mastered eating a sandwich while sliding. That is skill.

I hate to think that we're already half way through July.  Summertime always goes by so fast.  We are loving it!
