Daddy-o

These little guys have one great dad.  Both of them were overjoyed to hear that we'd be heading downtown this afternoon to deliver our Fathers Day gifts to Eric, who spent his day at work.
Sam and Max weren't the least bit worried about the questionable people loitering around the hospital entrance.  They weren't bothered by the dirty lobby floor or the less than appetizing aromas floating from the cafeteria.  They just wanted to celebrate their dad.   And celebrate we did!

They made tin can treats and could hardly wait to eat share what was inside.

Eric is definitely the 'fun' parent.  Thank goodness for that!  Sam and Max love to act totally goofy around him.

Sam adores his dad.  He wants to dress like him, eat like him, and talk like him.  He'll inspect Eric's choice of clothes and run upstairs to change into whatever he can that most resembles what Eric's got on.  He's picked up on Eric's love of plants and flowers and loves to work out in the yard alongside him.  When Eric walks in the door from work, Sam is usually quick to ask, "Hey Dad, do you want to go check on our plants?"  Sam is also excited about having "arms and legs as hairy as Daddy's someday."  Must be a guy thing.

I think Max gets a lot of his personality from Eric.  Namely being funny, loud, goofy, etc.  Whenever Max hears a door open, any door open, he runs thinking that it is Eric home from work.  He usually asks me at least a dozen times everyday when his daddy will be home.  Max loves to wrestle with Eric and almost always insists that Eric carry him where ever we go.

Eric has a lot on his plate, but he always makes time for his boys.  He adores them, too.  I feel so blessed that my (almost) three sons have such a great man to look up to.

I also feel so blessed to have such a great father myself.  My grandfathers and father-in-law are pretty great, too.

Happy Fathers' Day!

Yay for dads! And there's hope. We had John for the first Father's Day in three years today! It was fabulous not having to bring his dinner and gifts to the OB or peds call room. Happy Father's Day!
