So, I have a confession to make. Here it goes...my kids have watched more TV this summer than they have their entire lives. It's been hot, like record hot. I've been pregnant and hot, like record hot. And the humidity has about killed me. So, needless to say, we've watched some cartoons around the Dockter house. I can't deny it. Cartoons and our neighborhood pool (along with ice cream, otter pops, Sonic's happy hour, and $1 drinks at McD's) have saved us this summer.
We did, however, discover a new favorite show...Wild Kratts. Have you seen it?

It's all about animals, which my boys love. Plus it's educational which helps me not feel quite as guilty when I turn it on. Sam especially loves it!
He loves it so much that he wanted a Wild Kratts birthday party this year. So, that's exactly what we did yesterday, and it was a blast.
Sam's birthday actually isn't until the 26th, but with a baby coming and Eric's call schedule we had to party a bit early this year. Sam couldn't quite figure out why we were celebrating him turning 5 when he is still 4. He kept telling his friends that this was just his 'fake' party since his real birthday is still about a week away. I wonder what he's thinking his 'real' party is going to be like! Hope he's not disappointed come Friday!
You can't possibly have a Wild Kratts Party without Creature Power Suits! I made a dozen of them and it took all of an hour. Sam was beyond thrilled and couldn't wait to wear his.
Eric, too, was thrilled.
He's such a good sport!
Max is a huge Wild Kratts fan, too, and thought the party was just as much for him as it was for Sam. He was so excited that all of his friends were coming over to play Wild Kratts.
I was the party pooper and didn't wear a Creature Power Suit. There's no way one could fit over my giant belly at this point. (Did I mention I'm due in 11 days?! Hooray!)
Eric was the party executor. He took over all of the games and made everything so exciting and fun. He taught the boys about all sorts of animals and helped them win their Creature Power Discs by playing all sorts of games. I loved being able to sit back, snap pictures, and enjoy the party. I think Eric was exhausted after his 2 hours of Wild Kratt entertainment.
Here are the boys showing off their Peregrine Falcon power.
We played a little Cheetah Tag, did some Draco Lizard tossing, ate donuts like giraffes, did a Peregrine Falcon Hunt, and topped it off with Fishing Remora Fish style.
Are we nerds or what?!
Phew! The party was a success! Sam has such great, fun, happy friends here and loved partying with them. I cannot believe that he's going to turn FIVE this week!
Where does the time go?!

Love the angle, especially the donut one. Your kiddos are so cute. I was laughing out loud on the post before this one. Lance was wondering what I was looking at. Max is hilarious. Cute boys.
those kratts are crazy!! Zeb loves them too! and our summer sounds a lot like yours! sonic and tv :) It has been way to hot- but I've been so pleased with August. Let's hope it doesn't heat up again. The party looks like it was a blast!!
Um, pretty sure you outdid the whale party you did for Sam last year. You outdid yourself and you're pregnant?!? The Kratt suits KILL me. Honestly, Lindsay, I don't think you can hang your head in shame because you've been watching a little more tv than usual. I'm signing you up to do Finn's b-day party...you have a 6 month head start. Lucky you! ;)
What a FUN, WILD party! We all knew that Eric would just LOVE to do the party! He probably had more fun than all the boys! SOOOOO CUTE!!! xo
LOVE. And I want your lamp.
I hope Sam has a fun "real" birthday too! So many boys his age....looks like a fun party. Matthew also likes that show a lot. 11 more days......glad to get an update. Did you get my email?
You are such a creative mommy!! You'll be in my prayers the next 11 days!!
Wow, good job for doing such a great big party when you are about to pop! I can't wait to see what this new little guy is going to look like!
Fun party! I'm so glad that it was a success! Love those Wild Kratts! Sam looks so old in all these pictures!

Happy (almost) birthday Sam!
His haircut looks so cute and grownup:)
The party looks amazing Lindsay!
Did I mention Tayson had the time of his life? SO fun and creative. Thanks again for inviting him!! You guys are the best.
Amazing party. What a fun way to turn 5! Lucky Sam. I cannot believe that there is a mom out there who is willing to put on a party like that when she is due in only 11 days.
